Jan Vogler's Recommendation of Sushi Restaurants in New York City:

1. Tomoe Sushi 172 Thompson Street (Between Beeker and Houston Street) (212) 777-9346
The restaurant is located in the Village and if you plan to go there count on waiting at least 1 hour to get a table. The interior is simple and so is the design of the food. But the quality of the sushi is fantastic and the taste beats every other competitor in the City. Prices are around 25 $ per Person.

2. Sushi Zen 57 W 46th St (212) 302-0707
The Restaurant is a lot fancier than Tomoe. The interior is more elegant and the food is presented like art. Insiders believe that it is hard to find any comparable quality of Sushi even in Tokyo. Whoever likes beautifully presented food would maybe prefer this place to Tomoe. But the taste of the fish and the pure Sushi experience is still greater at Tomoe. 40 $ per Person

3. Onigashi 43-45 West 55th Street (212) 541 7145
One could probably find few more restaurants of this quality in New York City. But the mid town location combined with the very good quality of the raw fish plus the excellent service makes this restaurant very attractive. 20 $ per Person
